Synchronising with Outlook |
Top Previous Next |
You can export all or some of the contacts held in PD into a folder in Microsoft Outlook. Usually this is a very convenient way of synching contacts with your mobile phone or other device.
(Please note that at present this is a one-way process - any changes you make to a PD contact in Outlook or on your phone will not be saved back to the database.
To export a list into Outlook, first do a search for the contacts you want to include. Usually this would be the "My Contacts" list of your own most important contacts. See here for more on this.
At the bottom of the contacts search screen is a button "Sync list with Outlook". This gives you three options as shown:
"Update my PD Outlook Contacts (All)" will keep your existing exported list and update their information. It will also add any new contacts that are in this list but haven't previously been exported.
"Update my PD Outlook Contacts (Amended in last 7 days)" will do as above, but only for recently edited contacts.
"Remove all PD Contacts from Outlook" essentially restores your Outlook folders to how they were before you started - all contacts taken from PD are removed.
"Replace my PD Outlook Contacts" removes all existing contacts from your Outlook folder and inserts the new list instead.
Please note that, depending on the size of the list, updating Outlook may take several minutes. (A very rough rule of thumb is approx 10 contacts per second). |
